George Papashvily (1898-1978) was a Georgian-American writer and sculptor. He was one of the most famous Georgian emigre artists of the 20th century. He and his wife Helen Waite Papashvily (1906-1996) wrote a number of books based on his life experiences and Georgian culture. Published immediately after WWII, YES AND NO STORIES was dedicated to the “defenders of Stalingrad and Sevastopol–folk heroes of tomorrow.” The book is copiously illustrated with woodcut-like drawings by noted artist Simon Lissim (1900-1981).
